Thaksin won't appeal in land case

bangkokpost.com — (BangkokPost.com) - Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra will not lodge an appeal against the verdict in the Ratchadapisek land case, his lawyer Khamnuan Chalopatham said on Tuesday without giving any explanation. The Supreme Court gave Mr Thaksin 30 days to file an appeal and the deadline is Wednesday. Mr Khamnuan said his client will explain why he has decided not to file an appeal at the phone-in address at the mobile Truth Today programme. The Supreme Court sentenced the deposed premier to two years in prison after finding him guilty of abusing of power in his wife's purchasing of Ratchadapisek land in Bangkok.
