enews.mcot.net — BANGKOK, July 22 (TNA) – Thailand's exports in June remained impressive with their value surging by 21.4 per cent from the same month last year to a record high of US$16.28 billion, according to the Commerce Ministry.
Permanent Secretary for Commerce Siripol Yodmuangcharoen on Tuesday said the export surge was boosted by a sharp increase of 51.7 per cent to $2.82 billion in value of farm and agro-industry products including rice, natural rubber, vegetables and fruits, and frozen and processed chicken.
Imports in June totaled $15.64 billion in value, up 30.7 per cent from the same month one year before.
Of this, $3.47 billion are imports of fuel, up 66.4 per cent, $3.74 billion are capital goods, up15 per cent, $6.59 billion are raw materials, up 27.6 per cent, $1.35 billion are consumer goods, up 44 per cent.
It resulted in a trade surplus of $627 million, down 21.2 per cent from the same month last year.
