pattayaone.net — Just after 4am on Thursday, Police Lieutenant Choosak from Banglamung Police Station was called to the notorious Highway 36 which leads to Rayong Province to investigate a fatal road crash. At the scene of the crash, near the border with Rayong Province, was a Red Toyota Mighty X pick-up in the central reservation. Next to the vehicle was the body of the driver who was thrown from the vehicle, Khun Paitoon aged 42 who was driving towards Rayong Province. Witnesses explained to Police that the man was driving at speed and appeared to veer off the main carriageway for no apparent reason. The pick-up flipped over as it entered the central reservation and the man was seen to be ejected from the vehicle. The man was thought to have been killed when the truck flipped over his body, seconds after he was thrown from the vehicle. Police are waiting for the results of a post mortem examination but suspect he either fell asleep at the wheel or suffered an acute medical problem which rendered him unable to control his vehicle. read more...

pattayaone.net — On Thursday Afternoon at Pattaya City Hall, Khun Itipon, the Mayor of Pattaya, chaired a meeting of Jomtien Beach Deckchair Operators who are not happy with the current regulations imposed on them by the Governor of Chonburi Province with regards to the organization of their pitches. At the present time each pitch is split in half. One half is for the deckchairs and the other half is for public use only. The current dispute is over the lack of spacing between each pitch which the operators claim will lead to confusion and disputes, especially as the High Season months are approaching and the beach will become much busier. The delegates requested to the Mayor that a 2 meter gap between each pitch should be permitted so there is a clearly defined space between each operator which should therefore not cause any confusion. The Mayor considered the proposal and accepted it to the relief of delegates.
